1. In order to develop and improve vocational rehabilitation system in Indonesia, a     technical cooperation project was started at the NVRC in December 1997     between the Government of Indonesia and Government of Japan.

2. The Record or Discussion on the project was signed on November 17, 1997     between the Ministry of Social Affairs and the Japan International Cooperation     Agency (JICA).

3. The duration of technical cooperation was for five years, starting December     1997 through December 2002.

4. Under the technical cooperation project, JICA supported in dispatching long     and short term experts, training counterpart personnel in Japan, providing      technical equipment, and contribution to the local expenditure.

5. Through this project, knowledge and skills of instructors and staff in NVRC      were improved, making them possible to provide better services for people      with disabilities.
